A couple of weeks ago I decided it was time for MY voice to stand out in my business – the good, the bad, the ugly. We are made up of all of our life experiences; they make us who we are. I started to ask myself some deeper questions. Why didn’t I write more about my own truths? What was I avoiding? What was I afraid of?
Coming of age in a small town in Kentucky, I jumped out of the window of the cotillion dance in my long dress, and took off with a boy I wasn’t supposed to be dating. I drank bourbon and went 4-wheeling. These were just a few of the things that filled my days.
I am also part of the secret of closed adoption. Where there are secrets, there is always shame. I was out of touch with how much pain I was in. For me, unacknowledged pain equaled rebelling. And boy did I rebel.
But then something happened that changed it all. I had a near death experience at 33. I had an amniotic embolism. I was suffocating, turned blue, and lost consciousness briefly.
That was enough for me. If I had been vaguely aware before of the pain I was in, a near death experience brought it all front and center. I had a true spiritual awakening after that happened and I got to work on healing me. I even began studying to be a healer and a coach.
Since then, I have learned to accept 100% responsibility for my life and circumstances. I don’t believe that things just happen. It’s all by design, and it’s true that you can’t change what you don’t own. It has helped me become who I am now, someone who is committed to helping people get out of pain and step into their power in their life and business.
