Greetings From Chicago !
I am here to help my oldest child Katy move to San Francisco (happy and sad face). Yes, one more transition!
It’s happening all over my world right now — and in the world of so many friends and clients. Whew!
Here’s to full-on surrender and letting it flow!
On this incredibly beautiful morning in Chicago, I’m sitting on a bench on the corner of Elm and State sipping coffee from La Colombe (YUM, I love a good Americano!). Before me, a beautiful old perfectly constructed brick building that looks to be in perfect condition is being demolished. As each chomp of the crane takes a piece, and the structure crumbles, I can’t help but think about the love and care that went into the construction.
Check it out here…
Someone designed and built this home with love and care and a nice eye for detail. AND once I got a glimpse of the inside, it was clear that it had not been cared for in years. It was time for it to come down. It made me think about how so many things and ways of being in our world and in our lives are being de-constructed right now. Things we created with love and care.
Take my daughter Katy’s move. She loved and appreciated her 3 three years in Chicago (minus the deep winter months), and now it’s time for something new!
I see this with my clients often too. They have constructed many things, ways of being and belief systems in their business and life with care and consideration, and in many times… in order to survive.
At the time, these may have been really beneficial and helped them feel safe and comfortable. And then they realize that belief or way of being no longer works.
It’s demolition time.
In order for the new to come in, the old must be demolished.
We MUST de-construct the old. We’ve got to dismantle our old stories and beliefs. We need to take action when it’s time to leave a city or even take down an old building. (You know how I feel about having a fresh environment!) This is how we get to the next level of growth personally AND and professionally.
Take a look around your world right now.
What do you need to de-construct in order to bring in the new?
Is it a relationship? A physical space? A work problem? Not speaking your truth and needs?
